Guidelines and procedure for grant making:

The board of directors entertains application for grants from June 1 to July 31 each year. Grant recipients must be tax-exempt, non-profit organizations benefiting the Alexandria area. The priorities for grant making will be projects that:

  • Encourage more effective use of community resources
  • Benefit children and the elderly
  • Grants will generally not be used to add or establish endowment funds
  • Test or demonstrate new approaches the techniques in the solution of common problems
  • Establish priorities for action by other agencies or organizations
  • Promote volunteer participation and citizen involvement in community affairs
  • Enable tax-exempt organizations to reduce costs and increase efficiency
  • Address opportunities and/or dilemmas of emerging and changing needs.
