Guidelines and procedure for grant making:
The board of directors entertains application for grants from June 1 to July 31 each year. Grant recipients must be tax-exempt, non-profit organizations benefiting the Alexandria area. The priorities for grant making will be projects that:
- Encourage more effective use of community resources
- Benefit children and the elderly
- Grants will generally not be used to add or establish endowment funds
- Test or demonstrate new approaches the techniques in the solution of common problems
- Establish priorities for action by other agencies or organizations
- Promote volunteer participation and citizen involvement in community affairs
- Enable tax-exempt organizations to reduce costs and increase efficiency
- Address opportunities and/or dilemmas of emerging and changing needs.
