Shari,

Thank you so much for the generous gift from the Alexandria Area Community Foundation!

Your gift will directly benefit the many kids and families in our community that cannot afford YMCA programs!

As the YMCA continues to grow, the number of those needing financial assistance/scholarships will grow as well.

Your support is greatly appreciated!

Jeff

Dear Judy,
On behalf of Central Minnesota Elder Network, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Community Foundation for the grant of $1500. We thank you for this contribution that enables us to purchase equipment for training volunteers.

With the help from your foundation, we have continued to grow. We are pleased with the response to our Caregiver Support/Respite Care program, offering emotional support to the caregiver and respite care with the care receiver. By giving caregivers the opportunity to take time for themselves, they will feel better about providing care for their loved one. The care receiver is provided with security and the companionship of a friendly new face. Families have told us how helpful this service has been to them.

We continue to offer peer counseling, the goal of which, is to meet the mental health needs of older adults in our communities. These needs occur in the form of loneliness, isolation, depression, anxiety and can result from any number of circumstances. The peer counselor offers a willingness to listen in a non-judgmental manner.

Thank you for your support of our effort to empower and enrich the lives of older adults and families in Alexandria and the greater community.

Very truly yours,
Mary Jane Reif

Dear Mr. Johnson:
We, at the Douglas County Chapter of the Minnesota Red Cross, are sincerely grateful for the check for $1,000.00 from the Alexandria Area Foundation.

Your grant could not have come at a better time. We have been scrambling to find a way to get the children in our county introduced to "Masters of Disasters." This training program is designed to help children from K-5 learn about all kinds of disasters, how the disasters come to be and what to do to prepare for them. This training is not in the school budget and ours is "tight." You have solved that issue. Please understand the training, itself, is free.

Thank you again for considering our Grant and realizing its importance to the community.

Sincerely,
Judy Beatty, Executive Director
Douglas County Chapter, ARC

Dear Judy,
On behalf of Central Minnesota Elder Network, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Community Foundation for the grant of $1,000.00. We thank you for this contribution in general support of the Elder Network program. With the help from your foundation, we have continued to grow. In 2002 we implemented the Caregiver Support/Respite Care program, offering emotional support to the caregiver and respite care with the care receiver. By giving caregivers the opportunity to take time for themselves, they will feel better about providing care for their loved one. The care receiver is provided with security and the companionship of a friendly new face. Families have told us how helpful this service has been to them.

Dear Board Members,
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I attach the photos of our newly-organized, inventoried custom storage rooms and remodeled costume shop. This is the first time in history of the organization that we have such a wonderful working and functional arrangement. Over 75 storage containers were purchased and used to coordinate and store an assortment of articles from shoes to hats. Clothing has been sorted and labeled for easy access. Our valuable clothing articles are properly stored and conservation have already been started regarding integrating clothing articles from the Historical Society into the space that is now available. A program has been set up to monitor the lending of our inventory to other organizations that may make good use of it.
All this wonderful progress is a result of the funds that were provided to us by the grant money from the Alexandria Foundation.
Thank you,
LaVeda Holtberg

Dear Ms. Radil,
On behalf of Central Minnesota Elder Network, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to you for selecting us as a grant recipient of $2,000.
As we continue to grow, we see a critical need for the service that we are providing through peer volunteer counseling. To date, we have received over 180 client referrals and we have 80 trained peer volunteer counselors. The grant will be used to expand the hours of the Program Director and clerical staff. Thank you for your continued support of our effort to empower and enrich the lives of older adults in Alexandria and the greater community.
The grant you awarded us is validation of the work Central Minnesota Elder Network does in the Alexandria area.
Sincerely,
Mary Jane Reif

Dear Ms. Radil,
I wanted to express our gratitude and appreciation for the foundation's grant of $2,000.00 to our Elder Victim Services Program. It is through donations and support such as yours that Listening Ear is able to continue addressing the unique needs of elder crime victims in our area.

Dear Ms. Radil,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Lakes Chamber Music Society, I wish to extend my thanks to the Alexandria Area Community Foundation. We are honored to have been chosen as a grant recipient.
As you are aware from our application, we are dependent upon the generosity of our community. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated. Thank you again for your belief and commitment to the Society.
Yours truly,
Nina Tobias

Dear Mr. Lervick,
On behalf of the entire Board of Directors and Nina Tobias, Artistic Director, I want to formally express our gratitude for the $2,000 grant we received this week from the Alexandria Area Foundation. Putting on eight years of successful concerts requires substantial effort and support from many people, both in terms of "sweat equity" and monetary contributions. While we have received substantial grant monies from the Minnesota State Arts Board and from other foundations, we feel most honored to accept this award from our own home town foundation.
As Mary Jane Reif said so well, receiving this grant really validates what we are working to achieve. Whether or not we have been familiar with the efforts of each of the groups honored this year, it is important to recognize and celebrate their work and to acknowledge that it truly does improve the quality of life in the area for all of us.
The Lakes Chamber Music Society plans to continue its efforts to bring world class music to the Alexandria area for many years to come and hopes to be able to expand not only the concert series, but also the master classes offered to music students and the outreach programs at the schools in surrounding areas Your support will certainly help us to do just that.
Thank You.
Kathleen Pohlig
